DRAFT VISION STATEMENT
Dàadzàii Vàn Territorial Park is a network of ancient travel routes and a gathering place, bringing Gwich’in and visitors together along the Chiiveenjik (Bell River). Vuntut Gwitchin maintain strong cultural, spiritual and economic connections to the Dàadzàii Vàn and Chiiveenjik area; relationships that are intrinsically tied to the past, the present and the future.
This place of immeasurable beauty, pristine land and water, and abundant wildlife has sustained Gwich’in culture for time immemorial, and with continued stewardship will provide for generations to come. As a territorial park, the area offers a rich wilderness experience for visitors to share and appreciate. Dàadzàii Vàn Territorial Park will be managed by Yukon government in collaboration with Vuntut Gwitchin Government, in a supportive and respectful manner that reflects the enduring relationships of the Gwich’in, and the contemporary management objectives of a territorial park. |

DRAFT GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The following principles will guide management in achieving the objectives of the park management plan:
Ecological and Cultural Integrity
Human activities in the park will be managed to maintain the ecological and cultural integrity of the park. In the case of conflict with other guiding principles this guiding principle will take precedence.
Shared Use
Dàadzàii Vàn Territorial Park is a place shared by subsistence harvesters and recreational visitors. Respect for different cultures and perspectives can enrich the visitor experience and will promote a safe environment for all people in the area.
Knowledge Sharing
Accessing all available sources of knowledge contributes to a better understanding and broader perspective of values and risks. Both Gwich’in knowledge and scientific knowledge are fundamental to informed, inclusive and effective management decisions.
